I think Brad has a real drummer to come in on this track, that will sound fantastic!!
Ok..real drums are better! :) As long as they have some good mics and mix as I won't be able to do much to them after their recording!
(but I can still chop/cut/paste if needed)
If the real drummer records to your reference track then he should stay in the tempo of the song as it makes it much easier using measure in the time line of my recording software (Sonar).
I'll wait for the the real drum track first...send the drums as high quality as possible.
I know we all used mp3 last time but I think we should go up to wave quality!
Last time some of the wave file formats we tried were not standard CD quality. Make them 16 bit 44khz "CD" standard if you can.
I have been doing some more research on MP3 quality and it's ok for the finally but during the mixing stage we need to keep as high quality as possible!
Actually all my files are 24bit 44khz quality...but that may take to long to upload and take up too much space!
16 bit / 44khz is fine.
Send the drum track by it's self in a stero mix with maybe some slight reverb (if needed) and a 'dry' kick drum if possible. A 'wet' kick is hard to work with in the mix if it gets muddy sounding.
Brad try to get a perfect mix of the drums if you can because it will be hard to adjust kick, snare, toms and overhead latter.
Thanks men....
